About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation on running a quick-service restaurant for one week, for high-school Career and Technical Education in hospitality and culinary arts (ProStart), family and consumer sciences food-service courses and introductory restaurant management.

Lone Oak Burgers (a fictional independent burger restaurant with a drive-thru in New Braunfels, Texas): as the 19-year-old shift manager you run the week of Monday 26 October to Sunday 1 November 2026 while the general manager is away.

Round by round you choose the prep plan and the truck order, the crew schedule and the drive-thru set-up, the service-recovery policy and what to do with a cooler that has lost temperature on football Friday, and the weekend promotion and the close of the week.

Each part of the week is scored on guest satisfaction, drive-thru time, food cost, labor cost and controllable profit; scheduling 14- and 15-year-old crew outside the federal child-labor hours, or serving food from a warm cooler, caps the score. English with Spanish.

Who it is for

An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Monday 26 October 2026: the prep plan and the truck order.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

  • The truck order
  • The schedule from Thursday
