About this simulation
A 90-minute, 4-round advanced Express simulation on setting the rules of a hospital nursing roster for a year, for health-management programmes and for nursing directorates, area and ward nurse managers and workforce planners.
Hospital General de Montejaral (a fictional 410-bed public hospital in Spain), 2027 by quarters: as the deputy director of nursing for an inpatient area of eight wards and 128 nurses you decide the rules that make every monthly roster.
Round by round you choose the shift pattern and how the roster is drawn up, how sickness absence is handled and how short-notice gaps are covered, the summer holiday plan against the signed safe-staffing floor and who works nights, and the shift agreement for 2028 and the winter plan.
Each quarter is scored on shifts covered as planned, sickness absence, staff fatigue, the annualised leaving rate, staff confidence in the roster and cover spending against budget; asking staff on sick leave for their diagnosis, chaining shifts without the legal rest, or staffing nights below the signed floor, caps the score.

How a session runs
- The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
- Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Martes 15 de diciembre de 2026: el patrón de turnos y cómo se hace el cuadrante.
- The simulation can be run in English, Español.
- The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.
