About this simulation

Mid-career professionals (38–50) reconsidering formal education run the real ROI on a Master, PhD, certificate, or no-degree alternative. Names the actual motivation among five (career-pivot, network, knowledge, identity, avoidance), computes age-stratified risk-adjusted NPV, runs a 5-question audit, and lands an irreversible step before the application deadline.

Who it is for

An advanced simulation for participants used to working with the main frameworks and trade-offs of the subject, designed for executive education and experienced professionals.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Name what you are really buying.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Career-pivot — credential the new field actually requires
  • Network — peer cohort I do not have, in a place I cannot easily access
  • Knowledge — body of work I want to actually learn, not skim
  • Identity — be the kind of person who has this on the wall / in the bio
  • Avoidance — work is hard and school is a socially-acceptable place to hide
  • Candidate to evaluate
  • Useful career years remaining (be honest — for 40 it is typically 22–27, not 25)
  • Realistic sustained salary uplift (€k/yr) — at 40 the range is €10k–€30k, not the FT €40k–€60k headline
  • Probability the pivot fully lands (% — typically 40–70)
  • Discount rate (% — 5–7 standard for mid-career Iberia / LATAM)

What participants track

What participants follow on screen as the rounds go by:

  • Step A — The forced ranking
  • Step B — The disconfirming question
  • Step C — Honesty score (1 to 10)
  • Cost the candidate properly with your numbers
  • The 5-question audit
  • Land the decision and the irreversible step
