About this simulation
A 90-minute, 4-round advanced Express simulation on running a saturated hospital emergency department through a winter weekend, for health-management programmes and for emergency-department heads, duty coordinators, nurse supervisors and bed managers.
Hospital General de Valdelobos (a fictional 540-bed public hospital in Spain), from Friday 15 January 2027 at 15:00 to Monday 18 January: as the duty coordinator you run four blocks of a flu-season weekend.
Round by round you decide the triage model and where the doctors hours go, what to do with the admitted patients waiting for a bed and how to protect a tired team, how to answer a reporter and the flu wave, and how to use Monday bed meeting and close the weekend.
Each block is scored on patients seen within their Manchester time, departures without being seen, admitted patients boarding in the department, team fatigue, patients and families trust and extraordinary spending; turning patients away without triage, giving the press a patient clinical data, or adjusting the times in the record, caps the score.
Who it is for
An advanced simulation for participants used to working with the main frameworks and trade-offs of the subject, designed for executive education and experienced professionals.
How a session runs
- The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
- Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Viernes 15 de enero de 2027, 15:00: el triaje y la plantilla.
- The simulation can be run in English, Español.
- The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.
