About this simulation
A second-generation grain farm in the Argentine pampas owns 500 hectares and machinery that could farm 2,000. A neighbouring field of 300 hectares is offered for sale, for a fixed cash lease or in aparceria (crop share), and other owners offer short leases.
Over four campaigns - a normal year, a La Nina drought, a recovery and a hail year - the participant, as general manager, decides how to take the field, how much extra land to farm, which insurance to buy, whether to renew leases at boom rents, what to do with a good year of cash, how to fund working capital, whether and how to partner with a landowning investor, whether to buy distressed land, and how to renew at the end.
The model is deterministic: yield, price, rent, crop shares, insurance triggers, machinery capacity and the cash low point before each harvest follow disclosed rules under the Argentine rural lease law. The score combines the quality of each decision with the campaign result and the change in net worth, and is capped for breaking the bank credit line before a harvest or for farming land under an unregistered lease.

Who it is for
An intermediate simulation for participants who already know the core concepts of the subject, designed for master's and MBA programmes.
How a session runs
- The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
- Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results.
- The simulation can be run in English, Español.
- The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.
