About this simulation

A regional destination management organisation has built a virtual reconstruction of a painted cave that admits 180 visitors a day against 410,000 annual requests. Conservation approved it as a substitute for the visit, marketing as a stimulant to travel, and the project measures neither.

Round 1 commissions the experience layer and records your prediction; Round 2 distributes €310,000 across six channels with an unannounced constraint on the evaluation reserve; Round 3 chooses the evaluation design that can — or cannot — tell substitution from stimulation, and reads the result against your prediction; Round 4 recommends renew, reduce, licence or close, and takes a position on a motion to raise the cave cap and on the accessibility channel.

Teaches the substitute-versus-stimulant question in immersive destination marketing, the intent–behaviour gap, evaluation design under selection bias, and stakeholder-relative success.
