About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional), grado superior, module 1412 Condiciones de seguridad y seguridad industrial of the Tecnico Superior en Prevencion de riesgos profesionales (Real Decreto 958/2024).

The learner is Nerea Valtuena, a newly qualified prevention technician hired by a fictional joinery workshop, Muebles Cendrera, which makes kitchen and bathroom furniture with a table saw, a panel saw, a spindle moulder, a CNC router, a varnishing booth and a board warehouse with racking and a forklift.

Four situations set the workshop's course in 2027: a generic checklist ticked in the office with every line in green, and how the inspection is prepared (zones, a checklist built from the rules and the risk evaluation, the accident records read first, the walk done in normal production) and how the findings are recorded (one sheet per finding with its place, rule and estimate); the first inspection's findings, and how they are classified by probability and consequences (hits, false positives, the right priority) and what is done with a table saw found without its guard and riving knife (stop, lock out, guard); the corrective plan, and which corrections come first under Ley 31/1995 article 15 (the source and collective protection before personal equipment, never a sign instead of a correction) and what is done with an emergency door blocked by pallets after two thefts; and the annual review of how the inspection is kept alive and how each inspection is closed with the findings told to the workers and their delegate.

What is always there stops being seen; a systematic inspection brings it back into view. Scored on the hazardous conditions detected and corrected in time, the cost of the programme, the findings wrongly classified and the non-conformities; training-level decision practice that complements the module's supervised practical work and the company's own evaluation.

Two critical safety errors cap the round at 40: the table saw kept running without its guard for an order, and the emergency door padlocked. Spanish primary, English parity.

What participants learn

After the session, participants will be able to:

  • Design a systematic safety inspection by zones, with checklists built from the applicable rules and the risk evaluation, accident records read first and the walk done in normal production
  • Record each finding on its own sheet with the place, the condition seen, the rule breached, the estimated probability and consequences and the immediate measure
  • Prioritize findings by probability and consequences, stopping serious and imminent risks at once and setting deadlines by level, without false positives or a low priority for real hazards
  • Analyze each hazard to correct it in the order of prevention: source and collective protection first, then organisation, with personal equipment as a complement and signs never as a substitute
  • Plan periodic zone inspections at the frequency the findings set, with each correction checked on site and the findings shared with the workers and their delegate with dated actions

Who it is for

An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: lunes 8 de febrero, 8:00: la lista en verde.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Cómo se prepara la inspección
  • Cómo se registran los hallazgos
  • Cómo se clasifican los hallazgos
  • Qué se hace con la sierra de mesa
  • Qué correcciones van primero
  • Qué se hace con la puerta de emergencia
  • Cómo se mantiene viva la inspección
  • Cómo se cierra cada inspección
