About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional, grado superior), module 0602 Gestion del montaje y del mantenimiento de instalaciones electricas of the Tecnico Superior en Sistemas Electrotecnicos y Automatizados.

You are Irene Vallespin, the new technician of the technical office of Electro Montanana S.L., a fictional low-voltage installation and maintenance company of Zaragoza with about 22 people and 7 crews of two electricians, and the manager asks you to organise the half-year over 24 weeks, from February to July 2029.

The company builds the electrical installations of a builder's works and keeps 40 maintenance contracts; it invoices more than ever and runs out of cash, because the builder pays at 120 days while the payroll is every month.

Round by round you decide two things: the portfolio of works and maintenance contracts, and the crews; how the company certifies and collects, and how it buys materials; preventive or corrective maintenance and the clients' periodic inspections by the control body (OCA); and how to answer a works extension and an electrician's electric shock at a shop switchboard.

Each week the crew-hours, the works delay, the contracts, the inspections, the expected accidents, the result and the cash are recomputed. Each round is scored on the result improvement over 24 weeks, the cash low point, the works delay and the inspections passed at the first visit, with the margin, the contracts, the accidents and the infractions shown but not scored.

Maintenance contracts steady the cash that the works throw into disorder. Leaving residual-current devices bridged or hiding an accident at work caps the score. Spanish with English.

Who it is for

An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Lunes 5 de febrero de 2029: la cartera y las cuadrillas.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • La cartera del semestre (desde la semana 3)
  • Las cuadrillas (desde la semana 2)
  • Certificaciones y cobros (desde la semana 6)
  • El material (desde la semana 6)
