About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round Express simulation from the learner's own chair as the co-founder and chief executive of a Spanish venture-backed software company, through four consecutive quarterly board meetings from March to December 2027: building a standing board pack that opens with the decision asked instead of a fresh deck of everything, pre-wiring every director instead of a side deal with the lead investor, telling the bad quarter to the chair and the lead investor before the pack, spending the meeting on the decision with the reporting taken as read and an executive session, tracking past commitments in a decisions-and-actions log, keeping the board informed between meetings with one page a month, bringing the next year's plan as scenarios with triggers, and handing the pack to the management team on a calendar.

The company: 84 people, EUR 6,400,000 of recurring revenue and a five-seat board at Termaria Cadena de Frio, S.L. (fictional, Valencia).

You decide how you build and prepare the March pack, how you give the news that the largest client is leaving and run the June meeting, what you do with the commitments of past meetings and what the board hears between meetings, and how you bring the 2028 plan and who prepares the board from now on.

Scored on your board deciding on the real picture, the chance of reaching March 2028 with the cash and the plan the company needs, the company's money well spent, your energy and your management team's, your management team's trust, your credibility with the board, and open risk; two shortcuts (recurring revenue kept in the line after the client has given notice, and approved minutes rewritten) look like winning and cap the score.

ES (Spain) primary, EN parity.

Who it is for

An intermediate simulation for participants who already know the core concepts of the subject, designed for master's and MBA programmes.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Lunes 1 de marzo de 2027: el dossier de marzo.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Cómo construyes el dossier del consejo
  • Cómo lo preparas con los consejeros
  • Cómo das la mala noticia
  • Cómo llevas la reunión
  • Qué haces con los compromisos de consejos anteriores
  • Qué oye el consejo entre reuniones
  • Cómo llevas el plan de 2028
  • Quién prepara el consejo desde ahora
