About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional), grado medio, module 1676 Tecnologia aplicada a la seguridad of the Tecnico en Seguridad (Real Decreto 570/2023).

The learner is Zurine Ibarbia, a newly qualified security technician and operator of a fictional alarm-receiving centre, the Central Receptora Torrevalda of Alarmas Torrevalda, made coordinator of its night shift.

Four situations set the centre's procedures in 2027: a storm night with the screen full of signals, and how each intrusion signal is verified (by the procedures of Orden INT/316/2011: three or more signals from different detectors within thirty minutes, video or audio, the phone call to the keyholder as a complement and never instead, only a confirmed alarm passed to the police) and how the queue is ordered (by severity, a hold-up button always a confirmed alarm); the clip of a loading yard, and what is done with the video (the clip of the event and the view of that zone) and with the images (logged, deleted within one month unless they are evidence, Ley Organica 3/2018 article 22.3, never sent out); a door somebody asks the centre to open and a confirmed alarm, and what is checked before any remote door opens (card, timetable, password, camera) and how the centre responds (the police first, then two uniformed guards with the keys); and the annual review of the false alarms per connection and of the year with each client.

Verifying before calling keeps the centre credible. Scored on the real incidents handled in time, the cost of the centre's measures, the improper communications and actions and the procedure failures; training-level decision practice that complements the module's supervised practical work.

Four critical errors cap the round at 40: the clip sent out for social media, the door opened for a voice, one guard sent in before the police, and false alarms recorded as technical faults. Spanish primary, English parity.

What participants learn

After the session, participants will be able to:

  • Apply sequential, video and audio verification to an intrusion signal before the police are told, using the call to the keyholder only as a complement and never instead
  • Prioritize a queue of alarm signals by severity, with panic and fire first and technical signals last, and group a zone's repeated signals instead of muting them
  • Use alarm video to decide and keep the images as the law requires: logged, deleted within a month unless they are evidence, and never sent out
  • Analyze a remote door-opening request and a confirmed alarm to respond in the right order: identity checks before any remote opening, then the police, then two guards with the keys
  • Design a false-alarm review that counts false alarms per connection, traces their cause with the installer, warns the client in writing and reviews the year with each client

Prerequisites

  • Detectors, cameras and access-control readers as taught in the module

Who it is for

An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: jueves 11 de febrero, 2:40: la noche de tormenta.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Cómo se verifica cada señal de intrusión
  • Cómo se ordena la cola de señales
  • Qué se hace con el vídeo de una alarma
  • Qué se hace con las imágenes
  • Qué se hace con la puerta del muelle
  • Cómo se responde a una alarma confirmada
  • Qué se hace con las falsas alarmas
  • Cómo se cierra el año
