Sobre la simulación

A 90-minute, 4-round procedural Express simulation for the Spanish vocational title Tecnico Superior en Integracion Social (module 0340, Mediacion comunitaria): a community mediation between neighbours with an intercultural edge, run by a municipal mediation service.

The learner is Iciar Garcimartin Ocejo (fictional), mediator in Torrealbar, a fictional Spanish city; the Policia Local refers a conflict between Severiano Uzquiza Ollauri (fictional), 73, widowed and unable to sleep, and the family in the flat above, Driss Lahlou Senhaji and Hanane Bouzidi (fictional) and their three children, after police calls for noise, notes in the entrance hall, a shouting match on the stairs and an owners meeting that wants legal action.

In four moments you decide how you make the first contact and how you read the conflict; how you run the joint session and what you do when it blows up; how the agreement is closed and what you do about the building and the teenage son; and what you do when the agreement relapses in June and the owners ask for a report.

The strong path: separate pre-mediation, positions, interests and emotions mapped, a structured joint session, a private pause when it blows up, a written agreement in the parties own words with a review date, the board and the teenager included with consent, a review after the relapse with the report declined, and a closing evaluation with the underlying needs referred.

Scored on process fit, escalation, the chance that the agreement holds, your time and energy, the parties trust, your standing with the network and practice risk; three shortcuts (telling one party what the other said in private, pressure to sign, a report on who broke the agreement) come back and cap the score. Fictional people and places; real Spanish law cited at principle level; training level only.

Spanish primary, English included.
