About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional), grado medio, module 1679 Vigilancia y Proteccion of the Tecnico en Seguridad (Real Decreto 570/2023).

The learner is Yaiza Turrillas, a newly qualified security technician and licensed security guard made team leader of the security service of a fictional shopping centre, the Centro Comercial Los Almendrales, for a fictional private security company, Custodia Somontina.

Four situations set the service's standing orders in 2027: a round that leaves every hour on the hour and two thefts at the loading bay, and how the rounds are planned (a risk map, routes and times varied every night) and how the accesses are controlled (one protocol that checks identity and never keeps a document, Ley 5/2014 article 32.1 b); a storeroom alarm at night and a thief caught at the exit, and what is done with each alarm (verified before anyone acts, nobody going in alone, the police called when an intrusion is confirmed) and with a thief caught in the act (held with no more force than needed, handed to the police at once and never questioned, Ley 5/2014 article 32.1 d); an abandoned rucksack on a full evening and a threatened manager, and what is done with a suspicious object (nobody touches it, the area is cleared, the police are called) and how a person is protected inside the premises (escorting outside the premises is a private bodyguard's function, article 33.1); and the annual review of how the incidents are recorded and how each one is closed with the client.

Acting within the legal limits protects the guard and the service. Scored on the incidents resolved in time and within the law, the cost of the service's measures, the actions outside the legal limits and the procedure failures; training-level decision practice that complements the module's supervised practical work, the guard's licence and the centre's self-protection plan.

Two critical errors cap the round at 40: the thief locked in and questioned, and the suspicious rucksack opened. Spanish primary, English parity.

What participants learn

After the session, participants will be able to:

  • Plan security rounds from a risk map of the premises, with varied routes and times, checkpoints read on the way and every anomaly logged with its time
  • Apply one access-control protocol within the guard's legal functions, checking identity and belongings with a reason, returning documents at once and refusing entry to whoever refuses
  • Judge how to verify an alarm and handle a thief caught in the act within the law: nobody going in alone, no more force than needed and an immediate handover to the police
  • Distinguish what a guard may and may not do with a suspicious object and a threatened person, clearing the area, starting the self-protection plan and leaving escorts to licensed bodyguards
  • Draft factual incident reports and a review with the head of security and the client that turns each incident into standing orders, never hiding one

Who it is for

An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: viernes 12 de febrero, 22:00: la ronda a la hora en punto.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Cómo se planifican las rondas
  • Cómo se controlan los accesos
  • Qué se hace con cada alarma
  • Qué se hace con un ladrón sorprendido
  • Qué se hace con la mochila sospechosa
  • Cómo se protege a Hugo
  • Cómo se registran las incidencias
  • Cómo se cierra cada incidencia
