About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation on planning and running a charitable fundraising campaign, for Career and Technical Education in business, marketing and leadership, student-organization officers and introductory nonprofit management.

The fictional Eastfield High School Service Club in Columbus, Ohio, runs an eight-week public campaign (25 January to 21 March 2027) to raise the 12,000 dollars a fictional food pantry needs for its weekend backpack program.

Round by round you choose the public goal and the tactic, the appeal and how donors are thanked, how a local store's matching gift is announced and how the cash is handled, and the final push and the report to donors.

Each fortnight is scored on net to the pantry, cost to raise a dollar, pace against the need, donors and donor trust; an appeal that identifies a student on the backpack list, or a match advertised as unlimited when it is capped, caps the score. English with Spanish.

Who it is for

An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Monday 25 January 2027: the goal and the tactic.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.
