About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round intermediate Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional, grado superior), module 0629 Organizacion del transporte de mercancias of the Tecnico Superior en Transporte y Logistica.

You are Irene Sasot, the traffic technician of Transportes Lumbierre S.L., a fictional family road haulier of Zaragoza with twelve articulated trucks that carries a cannery pallets to distribution centres in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Bilbao, and you run its fleet and traffic for 24 months, from January 2027 to December 2028.

Today the trucks come back empty unless someone calls, each order leaves when it is ready and the campaign peak goes to the spot market: 36% of the kilometres run empty, 85% of the deliveries arrive on time and the margin is thin.

Round by round you decide two things: the own fleet against subcontracting and how routes are planned; the return loads and the control of driving times and the tachograph; how the trucks are loaded and how waits at the docks are handled; and the answer to the client 10% rate cut request and the plan for a 25% diesel rise in 2028.

Each month the tonnes, the trips, the own and subcontracted trips, the kilometres and the empty kilometres, punctuality, the infractions and the result are recomputed. Each round is scored on the result improvement over 24 months, the share of empty kilometres, the on-time deliveries and the sanctionable infractions, with the cost a tonne-kilometre, the kilometres and the tonnes shown but not scored.

Letting drivers finish a trip without the driver card caps the score. Spanish with English.

Who it is for

An intermediate simulation for participants who already know the core concepts of the subject, designed for master's and MBA programmes.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Lunes 11 de enero de 2027: la flota y las rutas.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • La flota propia y las puntas desde febrero
  • Cómo se planifican las rutas
  • Las cargas de retorno
  • Los tiempos de conducción y el tacógrafo
  • Cómo se cargan los camiones
  • Las esperas en los muelles
  • La rebaja que pide el cliente
  • El plan ante el gasóleo de 2028
