A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional, grado medio), module 1698 Control de organismos nocivos, artropodos y roedores of the Tecnico en Sanidad ambiental aplicada (Real Decreto 1157/2024).
The learner is Itziar Elosegui, a newly qualified technician of a fictional biocide-treatment service that runs the pest control of a fictional family restaurant, Meson El Albarizo in Valdesauco: a kitchen, a dry storeroom, a dining room and a summer terrace on a back patio.
Four situations set the premises' course in 2027: cockroaches seen at night in the kitchen and how the species, the focus and the method are chosen, the follow-up visit with a treatment whose label sets a rate and a safety period, rats in the storeroom and the patio with the terrace open and where they come in, and the annual review of the pest-control plan with the follow-up.
Removing the focus works better and lasts longer than fumigating.
Scored on the pest risks under control, the cost of the service and the measures, the days with a focus active and the people-days exposed; training-level decision practice that complements the regulated training for biocide treatments (Real Decreto 830/2010), each product's authorisation and label and the technical manager's instructions, and gives no doses of real products.
Three hard-fails cap the round at 40: spraying insecticide during the service with the food out, reopening before the label's safety period, and scattering loose rodenticide bait under the terrace tables (Regulation (EU) No 528/2012 art. 17(5)). Spanish primary, English parity.
An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.
