About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional, grado medio), module 1701 Control de organismos nocivos en piscinas y otras instalaciones acuaticas of the Tecnico en Sanidad ambiental aplicada (Real Decreto 1157/2024).

The learner is Aitana Rebole, a newly qualified pool technician of a fictional company contracted for the water treatment and the self-control protocol of the fictional municipal pools of Navalzarza: a covered heated pool, a teaching pool and an outdoor summer pool.

Four situations set the pools' course in 2027: a routine morning control with no free chlorine in the teaching pool while the controller's panel reads 1.2 mg/L and how the cause is looked for, a diarrhoeal faecal accident during a children's lesson and how users and the authority are informed, the summer heat wave with the outdoor pool on stabilised chlorine near the isocyanuric-acid closing value and over capacity, and the annual review of the self-control protocol with the follow-up.

Closing in time costs less than an outbreak. Scored on the risks under control, the cost of the measures, the days with a risk open and the bather-days exposed; training-level decision practice that complements the self-control protocol of each pool, the product labels and the qualification the decree asks of treatment staff, and gives no medical advice.

Two hard-fails cap the round at 40: opening a pool with no free chlorine on the panel's word, and pouring the pH reducer into the hypochlorite drum (Real Decreto 742/2013). Spanish primary, English parity.

Who it is for

An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: sábado 6 de febrero, 7:30: la lectura de la mañana y los registros.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Qué se hace con el vaso de enseñanza
  • Cómo se busca la causa
  • Cómo se resuelve el accidente
  • Cómo se informa
  • Cómo se trata el descubierto en verano
  • Qué se hace con el aforo
  • Qué pasa con el protocolo
  • Cómo se siguen las piscinas
