About this simulation

The learner is a 37-year-old first-time product manager at a Zaragoza warehouse-software company with 43 unread books, 19 newsletters and five books from her new boss, who in 2026 finished four books and remembers one.

Decision 1, Monday 11 January 2027: what she reads for (to read more, two work questions and a personal thread, or a 52-book challenge), what she does with the pile (start it as it is, buy the bestseller lists, or triage about fifteen books tied to her questions) and what she does with newsletters and feeds (keep them, cut them to four and a news block, or replace books with a summaries app).

Decision 2, in February: how much time (whatever is left at the weekend, thirty minutes a day anchored to a routine, or two hours a night taken from sleep), how fast (everything at the same pace, a speed-reading course promising 1,000 words a minute with full comprehension, or adapting speed after inspecting the book) and in what format (whatever is to hand, audiobooks at double speed for everything, or paper for hard books and audio for narrative).

Decision 3, in May: notes (highlighting, three notes in her own words, or copying passages), review (rereading, nothing, or spaced retrieval questions) and the book that drags (finish it, a stop rule, or start three others).

Decision 4, in October: what she does with what she reads at work (nothing, quoting books, or one experiment per book), whom she reads with (alone, a reading club, or a daily LinkedIn summary) and how she closes the year (buy the year-end lists, a quarterly review, or a higher book count).

A deterministic month-by-month model over 12 months turns these into four indices (what she retains, what she applies, her week and her career), books finished, hours a week, euros out of pocket and open risk. The score combines the quality of each decision with those outcomes and is capped when she buys the speed-reading course. Spanish (primary, Spain) and English.

Who it is for

An intermediate simulation for participants who already know the core concepts of the subject, designed for master's and MBA programmes.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Para qué lees
  • La pila
  • Lo corto: newsletters y redes
  • Cuánto tiempo
  • A qué velocidad
  • En qué formato
  • Las notas
  • El repaso
  • El libro que se arrastra
  • Qué haces con lo leído

What participants track

What participants follow on screen as the rounds go by:

  • Decisión 1 · Qué leer
  • Decisión 2 · Cuánto y cómo
  • Decisión 3 · Que se quede
  • Decisión 4 · Usarlo
