About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round Express simulation from the learner's own chair as a senior employee in a Spanish engineering company who has meant to ask for a pay review for two cycles and has not, through one full compensation cycle and into the next, from September 2027 to January 2028: putting the conversation on the agenda before the merit budget is set instead of at the review after calibration, bringing a one-page evidence log the manager can repeat in calibration, saying one number first with its reasons, opening with the reason for the meeting, turning the not-this-year answer into criteria, a date and an amount, writing a same-day summary of what was and was not agreed, answering the letter with the review it promised, and booking the next year's conversation before this one is over.

The seat: a senior project engineer at level P3 on a EUR 41,000 base, band EUR 40,000 to 52,000, at Hidrotecnica Gandul, S.A. (fictional, Seville, 340 people).

You decide what you bring and when you put it on the agenda, what number you ask for and how you open the conversation, what goes in writing and how you answer the deferral, and what you do with the letter and how you make sure the 2028 conversation is not skipped.

Scored on your case ready for calibration, the chance of being paid at your band's midpoint after the 2028 cycle, your pay well defended, your energy, your relationship with your manager, your credibility, and open risk; two shortcuts (an outside offer that does not exist, and a written summary of a commitment the manager never made) look like winning and cap the score. ES (Spain) primary, EN parity.

Who it is for

An intermediate simulation for participants who already know the core concepts of the subject, designed for master's and MBA programmes.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Lunes 6 de septiembre de 2027: el calendario.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Qué llevas
  • Cuándo lo pones en la agenda
  • Qué cifra pides
  • Cómo abres la conversación
  • Qué queda por escrito
  • Qué contestas al «este año no»
  • Qué haces con la carta
  • Cómo te aseguras de que la conversación de 2028 no se salte
