A 90-minute, 4-round advanced Express simulation on operating-room management for health-management and hospital-administration programmes, surgical-block coordinators, nurse managers and service heads.

Hospital General de Riosalvo (a fictional 420-bed public hospital in Spain, 10 theatres, weekday morning sessions from 08:00 to 15:00): as the new surgical-block coordinator you run the first semester of 2027 against the management contract milestones for patients waiting more than 180 days, with a budget of EUR 900,000 for extraordinary activity.

Round by round you decide how theatre mornings are allocated and how sessions are booked, where urgent cases are operated and how patients are prepared, how the day starts and the theatres are turned around and how the waiting list is worked, and what happens to unused block time and where to add capacity.

Each six-week period is scored on utilisation of scheduled time, patients beyond 180 days, same-day suspensions, extraordinary cost and the wait of urgent patients; dropping the surgical safety checklist time-out or hiding patients from the waiting list caps the score.
