About this simulation
Descargo de subestacion (Substation Clearance). Spanish vocational training (FP), grado superior: module 0669 Subestaciones electricas of the Tecnico Superior en Centrales Electricas (Real Decreto 258/2011) and the Tecnico Superior en Energias Renovables (Real Decreto 385/2011).
The learner is Celia Barrancos, substation operation technician of a fictional distribution company, who clears a 132 kV line bay so that a contractor can overhaul its circuit breaker, and at midday another line trips.
Four rounds, four phases of one day: the switching programme (a written programme on the single-line diagram, every source that can feed the bay back), the clearance switching (breaker first, checked, then disconnectors, lock-out and signs; stop at an interlock and check the real state), earths and the work zone (absence of voltage verified with a tested detector, earths on both sides, the zone marked out and handed over in writing) and the line trip and the return to service (read the protection before closing; re-energise in reverse order with nobody and no earths left).
Eight four-option decisions scored on switching safety, delay, avoidable energy not supplied in MWh and coordination with the control centre; four critical errors cap the round at 40: a disconnector opened on load, earthing without verifying absence of voltage, closing again and again onto a fault, and re-energising without checking people and earths.
Lesson: a disconnector never opens on load; the switching order is the safety. Training level only: decision practice that complements supervised practical training; fictional company, places and people; no real operational figures. Spanish player-facing strings with full English parity.
What participants learn
After the session, participants will be able to:
- Design a clearance on paper: a switching programme on the current single-line diagram, checked, confirmed with the control centre and covering every source that can feed the bay back
- Switch in the order that keeps people safe: the breaker first and checked open, then the disconnectors, then lock-out and signs, treating a refusing interlock as a warning to check the real state
- Make the work zone dead and hand it over: verify absence of voltage with a tested detector, earth and short-circuit both sides of the work point, guard the adjacent live bay and hand over in writing
- Analyze a protection trip from the relay and the event record and decide with the control centre, neither closing again and again onto a fault nor leaving the county dark for a full patrol
- Evaluate the clearance as a whole after returning the bay in reverse order on a written end of work, and argue with figures why the fastest-looking and most cautious-looking options are rarely best

An intermediate simulation for participants who already know the core concepts of the subject, designed for master's and MBA programmes.
How a session runs
- The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
