About this simulation

The learner runs a one-person online olive-oil business in Baeza, Spain (EUR 196,000 of sales, 62-hour weeks, 82 in the Christmas campaign) and, facing a corporate order of 1,200 gift boxes, hires for the first time.

Decision 1, September 2027: what to hand off (a bit of everything, the repeatable operations, or corporate sales with a salesperson), how to size it (by feel, asking other founders, or two weeks of time log) and what to prepare (nothing, written checklists, or automation first).

Decision 2: as what to hire (a so-called freelancer who works fixed hours only for you with your tools, an employee on an indefinite contract with a trial period, or a seasonal fijo-discontinuo contract), how many hours (full time, 12 or 25 a week sized to the repeatable work) and what pay (the sector agreement minimum, the market, or well above it).

Decision 3, her first day: onboarding (learning by watching, everything on day one, or a written 30-day plan with an area of her own), decision limits (everything through you, clear limits, or none) and what the owner does with the freed hours (keep doing the operations, rest, or 8 hours a week of corporate sales).

Decision 4, after the campaign: her first costly mistake (take the task back, fix the process with her, or deduct it from her pay), her request to grow (no, a second person, or more hours and ownership of operations) and how hours beyond her contract are paid (not at all, declared, or partly in cash).

The model is deterministic: handover efficiency, coverage of the year, management time and retention set the owner hours; the use of freed hours sets corporate sales; errors and campaign cover set on-time orders; contract form sets contributions and expected labour exposure.

The score combines the quality of each decision with the expected 2028 profit, the owner weekly hours, the chance the hire stays and on-time campaign orders, and is capped when hours are paid in cash. Spanish (primary, Spain) and English.

Who it is for

An intermediate simulation for participants who already know the core concepts of the subject, designed for master's and MBA programmes.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.
