About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional, grado medio), module 0210 Organizacion de la atencion a las personas en situacion de dependencia of the Tecnico en Atencion a Personas en Situacion de Dependencia (Real Decreto 1593/2011).

The learner is Yaiza Arambillet, the team leader of one zone of a fictional municipal home-care service, who plans and runs one month of visits for 42 users and 9 workers: the hours of each care programme and a reserve, the routes, sick leave, priorities, a user who worsens after a fall, how visits and incidents are recorded, a snow day and what users and families are told.

Planning with a margin for the unexpected is what guarantees the care. Scored on personal-care visits on time, overtime, incidents and complaints; no clinical procedures. Two hard-fails cap the round at 40: transferring alone a user who can no longer bear her weight (Ley 31/1995 art. 29.1) and posting users' notes and photographs in a WhatsApp group (GDPR art. 9; Ley Organica 3/2018 art. 5).

Spanish primary, English parity.

Who it is for

An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: 1 de febrero: el cuadrante y las rutas.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Cómo planificas las horas del mes
  • Las rutas
  • Cómo cubres las bajas
  • Qué va primero
  • Qué haces con Remedios
  • Cómo se registran las visitas
  • El día de nieve
  • Qué se dice a usuarios y familias
