About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional), module 0457 Circuitos electricos auxiliares del vehiculo of the Tecnico en Electromecanica de Vehiculos Automoviles (Real Decreto 453/2010), with a grado superior cut on module 0291 Sistemas electricos y de seguridad y confortabilidad of the Tecnico Superior en Automocion (Real Decreto 1796/2008).

The learner is Lorea Iguzquiza, a newly qualified electrical diagnosis technician at a fictional independent auto-electrics workshop, Electroauto Irurozqui in Torreandia.

Four situations set the workshop's course in 2027: warning lamps lighting at random with lost-communication codes in several control units, and how the fault is approached and the CAN bus measured; a taxi with intermittent doors and a flat battery every morning, and how the battery drain is found and the decision on the door module taken; an airbag lamp and steering-wheel buttons that fail only when the wheel is turned in the heat, and how the intermittent fault is reproduced and the airbag work done; and the annual review of how the workshop diagnoses and closes each job (Real Decreto 1457/1986: written estimate, replaced parts, invoice, guarantee).

A control unit replaced without measuring rarely cures a wiring fault. Scored on the electrical faults diagnosed right first time, the cost of diagnosis and parts, the days with a fault unresolved and the vehicles back with the same fault; training-level decision practice that complements the module's supervised practical work and each manufacturer's diagrams and procedures, with no vehicle specification given.

Two hard-fails cap the round at 40: fitting a higher-rated or bridged fuse, and measuring the airbag igniter with a multimeter (Real Decreto 989/2015 art. 4.5). Spanish primary, English parity.

Who it is for

An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: jueves 4 de febrero, 8:30: la primera aproximación y el bus.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Cómo se aborda primero la avería
  • Cómo se mide el bus
  • Cómo se busca el consumo de batería
  • Cómo se decide sobre el módulo de puerta
  • Cómo se reproduce la avería intermitente
  • Cómo se hace el trabajo en el airbag
  • Cómo diagnostica el taller
  • Cómo se cierra cada trabajo
