Sobre la simulación

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation on a high-school student teacher planning, teaching and assessing one fourth-grade math lesson on equivalent fractions (Florida B.E.S.T.

MA.4.FR.1.3): writing a measurable objective and an exit ticket that matches it, planning one objective for three levels of readiness from a pre-assessment, building a student's IEP accommodations into the plan with the ESE teacher (34 CFR §300.323(c)(2), (d)), checking every student's understanding while teaching, keeping scores private (FERPA, 34 CFR §99.30), reteaching the misconception from the evidence and reflecting on the lesson, for high-school Career and Technical Education in teaching and training, Educators Rising chapters and students preparing for the ParaPro Assessment.

Nadia Oyinlola, 17, a fictional Educators Rising member, student-teaches in Mr. Everett Galloway's fourth-grade class of 24 at the fictional Palmetto Shores Elementary in Lakeland, Florida, in February 2027.

Round by round you decide the objective and the assessment, how to teach three readiness groups and how to follow the IEP, how to check understanding and what to do with the scores, and how to reteach and reflect; at each decision point the class's results at the end of the lesson cycle are projected again with the decisions taken so far.

Each round is scored on the students who mastered the objective, the minutes lost, the misconception rate, the lesson-plan rubric and the mentor teacher's confidence, with open violations shown alongside; giving the assessment without the IEP accommodations, or posting students' scores, caps the score. English with Spanish.

La primera ronda arranca con: 1 February: the objective and the assessment.

  • The lesson objective
  • The assessment
  • Three levels of readiness
