About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation on a student producer's first paid client video, from brief to delivery: turning a client's brief into a signed one-page creative brief, a shot list and a storyboard, budgeting with a contingency and scheduling a buffer day, licensing the music instead of using a hit song without a license (17 U.S.C. §106), getting a signed release from everyone on camera and a parent's consent for every child (Tenn.

Code Ann. §47-25-1105), running a shoot day from a call sheet with the must-have shots first, turning the client's late request into a written change, asking for consolidated notes within the agreed revision rounds and delivering on time to the spec, with the credit union's official advertising statement on the end card (12 CFR §740.5), for high-school Career and Technical Education in A/V production and digital media and courses preparing Adobe Certified Professional – Video Design.

Nia Sorrells, 17, the fictional producer of the student crew at the fictional Whitlock Hollow High School in Nashville, Tennessee, makes a 60-second online spot for the fictional Holloway Bend Community Credit Union with her teacher Dale Ingebretsen and client Renata Vasquez-Lowe, from February to March 2027.

Round by round you decide how to turn the brief into a plan and how to budget and schedule it, which music to use and how to clear the people on camera, how to run the shoot day and what to do with the vice-president's late request, and how to handle five people's notes and the delivery; at each decision point the whole production is projected again with the decisions taken so far.

Each round is scored on usable shots, crew hours over schedule, the redo rate, the program's profit and the client's trust, with open violations shown alongside; using unlicensed music or a child's likeness without a parent's consent caps the score. English with Spanish.

Who it is for

An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: February: the brief, the budget and the schedule.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.
