About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional, grado medio), module 1206 Entorno normativo, economico y social del transporte of the Tecnico en Conduccion de Vehiculos de Transporte por Carretera.

You are Joel Cerda, a newly qualified driver of Transportes Benicarlet S.L., a fictional family road haulier of Algemesi (Valencia) with six refrigerated trucks that carries citrus to Madrid, Barcelona, Perpignan and, by ferry, Palma, and the owner asks you to plan the fleet standard week for 26 weeks, from October 2027 to April 2028.

Today each driver keeps his truck, every day is planned to the legal limit, weekly rests fall where they fall and the price is the going rate: 15.6 infractions, 83% of the loads on time and a loaded kilometre that costs more than it is charged.

Round by round you decide two things: who drives each route and how the driving day and breaks are planned; how the Palma ferry crossing is made and how weekly rests are organised; the price a loaded kilometre for 2028 and how waits at loading and unloading are handled; and how to cover a driver off sick in the campaign and a 15% diesel rise.

Each week the loads, the own and subcontracted loads, the kilometres, punctuality, the infractions and the result are recomputed under the EU driving and rest rules. Each round is scored on the result improvement over 26 weeks, the sanctionable infractions, the on-time deliveries and the cost a loaded kilometre, with the margin and the loads shown but not scored.

Planning ten hours of driving every day or the regular weekly rest in the cab caps the score. Spanish with English.

Who it is for

An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Lunes 4 de octubre de 2027: quién conduce qué y cómo se planifica el día.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Quién conduce cada ruta desde la semana 2
  • Conducción diaria y pausas
  • El servicio a Palma por el ferri
  • El descanso semanal de los conductores
  • El precio por kilómetro cargado
  • Las esperas en carga y descarga
  • Seis semanas sin un conductor
  • El gasóleo un 15 % más caro
