About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation on sales promotion for US high-school Career and Technical Education marketing courses (Arizona Marketing Technical Standard 6.7) and introductory marketing and retail-promotion classes.

Tuna Roja Agua Fresca Co. (a fictional small canned-beverage brand in Phoenix, Arizona, sold through a grocery chain, independent stores and a distributor): as promotions coordinator on a DECA co-op placement, you plan one year of promotions against a $260,000 budget.

You choose how to get people to try a new flavor and what to do for the stores, a sweepstakes or contest and the summer price promotion, a rebate on the 12-pack and a loyalty program, and the holiday offer and an incentive for the distributor.

Scored on the profit the promotions add after their own costs, the new regular buyers they keep, brand trust, and compliance with the rules on sweepstakes and lotteries, rebates, marketing texts, deceptive deadlines and payments to a customer's buyers.

Who it is for

An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Monday 1 March 2027: the launch.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.
