About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round intermediate Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional, grado superior), module 0626 Logistica de aprovisionamiento of the Tecnico Superior en Transporte y Logistica and the Tecnico Superior en Gestion de Ventas y Espacios Comerciales.

You are Lidia Gordaliza, the junior purchasing and stock planner of Transmisiones Curueno S.L., a fictional 26-person industrial distributor in Leon with about 3,000 references (bearings, belts, chains, gear motors and fixings) in three classes, A, B and C, and you set its inventory policy for 24 months, from January 2027 to December 2028.

Today it holds 427,200 euros of stock, serves 98.52% of demand from the shelf and turns its stock 6.98 times a year.

Round by round you decide two things: how to forecast (ABC-XYZ classification, ABC by units, last year or the sales estimates) and who supplies the A line (the manufacturer, the local wholesaler, an Asian importer or the manufacturer at 120 days); the lot size (economic order quantity, monthly, quarterly for a rebate or weekly) and the safety stock (a service level by class, two weeks of cover, the maximum or none); the review system and the dead stock; and how to face a six-week supplier stoppage and what to agree with the supplier for 2028.

Each month the safety stock, the lot, the units short and the stock of each class are recomputed from the lead time, its variation and the forecast error. Each round is scored on the net saving over 24 months, the service level and the rotation, with the average stock, the safety stock, the cost of stockouts and the order lines shown but not scored.

Agreeing payment beyond the legal 60 days, or stacking a panic purchase in the aisles and the emergency exit, caps the score. Spanish with English.

Who it is for

An intermediate simulation for participants who already know the core concepts of the subject, designed for master's and MBA programmes.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Lunes 11 de enero de 2027: la previsión y el proveedor.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Cómo prevés la demanda
  • Quién suministra la línea A
  • Cuánto pides cada vez
  • El stock de seguridad
  • Cuándo pides
  • Los 180.000 € que no se mueven
  • El paro de seis semanas en noviembre
  • Lo que pactas para 2028
