About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round intermediate Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional, grado superior), module 0628 Organizacion del transporte de viajeros of the Tecnico Superior en Transporte y Logistica.

You are Lucia Arbejal, the transport planning technician of Autocares Penacorada S.L., a fictional family bus company of Leon that runs, under a public-service contract, a 58-km trunk line to the capital and two rural feeder lines, and you plan its lines for 24 months, from January 2027 to December 2028.

Today six expeditions leave each way at the usual times with old coaches and drivers hired just to the hours: 70% punctuality, 37% occupancy, 2.00 euros of cost a kilometre and a thin result.

Round by round you decide two things: the trunk timetable and the fares; which vehicle runs on each line and the drivers roster inside the EU driving and rest times; how the rural lines feed the trunk line and how punctuality is planned; and how to serve the line while a bridge is closed, and the plan for a 25% diesel rise in 2028.

Each month the trips, the vehicle-kilometres, the coaches, the paid driver hours, overtime and cancellations, punctuality, the riders and the result are recomputed. Each round is scored on the result improvement over 24 months, the riders carried, the punctuality and the sanctionable infractions, with the occupancy, the cost a kilometre and the kilometres shown but not scored.

A roster in which everyone drives ten hours a day caps the score. Spanish with English.

Who it is for

An intermediate simulation for participants who already know the core concepts of the subject, designed for master's and MBA programmes.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Lunes 11 de enero de 2027: el horario y las tarifas.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • El horario de la troncal desde febrero
  • Las tarifas
  • Qué vehículo en cada línea
  • El cuadrante de los conductores
  • Las líneas rurales
  • Cómo se planifica la puntualidad
  • La troncal con el puente cortado
  • El plan ante el gasóleo de 2028
