A 90-minute, 4-round Express simulation in the learner's own chair on the night before and the five weeks after a company-wide reorganisation splits a team: who hears it first and how - the people whose role changes most, in person, before the announcement, and the whole team right after it; saying what is decided, what is not and when it will be, rather than promising that nothing changes; giving the coordinator whose role disappears the reasons and a real new role; handing fourteen key accounts over jointly rather than by letter; answering a rumour of a second phase with facts rather than a denial or a hunt for the leaker; handling a change of hours as a substantial modification with written notice; and planning the go-live with both teams.
Nieves Getino Cubria (fictional) leads the eleven-person sales-support desk of Suministros Bernesga, a fictional industrial-supplies distributor in Leon; tomorrow at ten the chief executive announces that six of her eleven move to a national key-accounts unit run from Madrid and the coordinator role disappears.
You decide who hears it first and what you say about what is not decided, what you do with the coordinator and how the key accounts are handed over, what you do with a leaked slide about a second phase and with the new director's request to change the six's hours from Monday, and how you prepare the go-live and what you do with the first month's pulse.
Scored on the change understood and under way, the chance that the change lands with nobody lost, the key accounts' margin protected, your time and energy, your team's trust and the coordinator's trust, and open risk; two shortcuts (imposing the new hours from Monday, lending the six your own system password for the go-live) come back and cap the score. Spanish primary, English included.
