About this simulation
A 90-minute, 4-round advanced Express simulation on setting the medicine policy of a hospital pharmacy service for a year, for health-management programmes and for hospital pharmacy services, hospital management and purchasing teams.
Hospital Universitario de Lorbada, a fictional 460-bed public hospital in Spain, 2027 by quarters: as the new head of the pharmacy service you decide the rules that decide every month of medicines against a drug budget of 37.52 million euros.
Round by round you choose how medicines enter the formulary and how stock is held, how medicines are bought and how they reach the wards, how a national antibiotic shortage and expiry are handled, and how the biologics move to biosimilars and how the year is closed.
Each quarter is scored on lines served without a stock-out, the share of purchases thrown away expired, spending against budget, days of stock, prescribers adherence to the formulary and the clinical services confidence; splitting contracts to avoid the procurement procedure, buying outside the authorised supply chain, or using expired medicines, caps the score.

How a session runs
- The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
- Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Martes 15 de diciembre de 2026: la guía farmacoterapéutica y la política de existencias.
- The simulation can be run in English, Español.
- The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.
