About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round intermediate Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional, grado superior), module 0622 Transporte internacional de mercancias of the Tecnico Superior en Comercio Internacional and the Tecnico Superior en Transporte y Logistica.

You are Nerea Cihuri, the international trade technician of Bodegas Tobia de Cardenas S.L., a fictional 28-person Rioja winery that sells about 5 pallets of wine a month to one importer in Mexico City, and you organise its shipments for 24 months, from January 2027 to December 2028.

Today the wine is sold FOB Bilbao at last year's price and shipped as groupage by the importer's forwarder: 66% of the shipments arrive on time and the account earns 47,337 euros a year.

Round by round you decide two things: the Incoterm (CIP, FOB, CIF or DDP) and how the delivered price is quoted; groupage or a container and the route; how the wine is insured and which documents and proof of origin go with each shipment; and how to release the cargo held after a general average on the vessel, and the freight plan for 2028 after a 40% rate rise.

Each month the legs, who pays and who bears the risk on each one, the insurance cover, the losses in transit and the importer's orders are recomputed. Each round is scored on the margin improvement over 24 months, the shipments on time and the uncovered losses, with the logistics cost a pallet, the pallets sold, the average price and the losses borne by the winery shown but not scored.

Issuing a second invoice at half the value for customs caps the score. Spanish with English.

Who it is for

An intermediate simulation for participants who already know the core concepts of the subject, designed for master's and MBA programmes.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Lunes 11 de enero de 2027: el Incoterm y la cotización.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Con qué Incoterm vendes a México
  • Cómo cotizas el precio puesto
  • Grupaje o contenedor, y cada cuánto
  • La ruta y el servicio marítimo
  • Cómo aseguras el vino
  • Los documentos y el origen
  • La carga retenida del Cebollera Star
  • El plan de fletes para 2028
