About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round Express simulation in the learner's own chair as a manager with two good finalists for a new specialist seat - one safer, one with more upside - and the seven months that test the choice: deciding what the seat must deliver and what each kind of failure would cost rather than asking who is better overall, choosing the one least likely to go wrong or adopting the managing director's preference; a pre-mortem for each finalist with one check made with consent rather than adding nothing, a fourth round of interviews or a question about family plans; the higher-upside finalist with the downside capped (probation, a staged scope, a mentor, an honest call to the runner-up) rather than the safe hire by reflex, the bet with no plan or the seat split; a written offer inside the band rather than a phone call, a lowball or a promise that cannot be authorised; a key client's complaint read with the data and an onboarding plan; and a real probation review, then a decision log that judges the choice by its process.

Marta Hontoria Sasamon (fictional) is the head of commercial planning at Distribuciones Cabia, a fictional food and drink wholesaler in Burgos, hiring its first pricing specialist with a first-year budget of 96,000 euros; the finalists are Jesus Tamaron Pinilla, fourteen years setting tariffs at a competitor, and Nuria Olmillos Barbadillo, who built a dynamic-pricing model and has had three jobs in five years.

You decide what the seat needs and how you look at the risks, whom you pick and how you make the offer, what you do with the first complaint and how you support the new hire, and how you close the probation period and what you change in how the team hires.

Scored on how well you know whom you are hiring, the chance that the seat delivers its first year, the seat's budget kept, your time and energy, the trust of your new hire and your credibility in the company, and open risk; three shortcuts (promising a title and a pay review you cannot authorise, signing the other finalist on a temporary contract without a cause as a backup, rewriting the hiring file) come back and cap the score.

Spanish primary, English included.

Who it is for

An intermediate simulation for participants who already know the core concepts of the subject, designed for master's and MBA programmes.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Jueves 4 de marzo de 2027: lo que necesita el puesto.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Qué necesita el puesto
  • Cómo miras los riesgos
  • A quién eliges
  • Cómo haces la oferta
  • Qué haces con la queja
  • Cómo acompañas a tu nueva incorporación
  • Qué haces al final del periodo de prueba
  • Qué cambias en cómo contrata el equipo
