About this simulation
A family grower-packer in northern Caldas, Colombia, exports Hass avocado directly for the first time: about 600 tonnes a season in reefer containers from Cartagena to a Rotterdam importer. As general manager over four harvest-and-shipping seasons, the participant chooses the spray programme against EU maximum residue limits, the certification (GlobalG.A.P.
IFA, with or without GRASP) and whether to stay on consignment or sell part of the volume under a fixed-price programme; then the programme Incoterm (DAP, CIF or FOB), the forward cover of the euro and the shipping service; answers the importer claims, a harvest-timing temptation below the maturity standard and lots found above the residue limit; and finally decides how to grow volume with neighbours fruit, the payment terms and how many buyers to sell to.
The model is deterministic: prices follow the Peruvian season, the peso strengthens, one sailing loses reefer power and the importer becomes insolvent, and each loss falls on whoever carries that risk under the chosen contract.
The score combines the quality of each decision with the season margin in pesos, the share of the value that arrived sound and residue compliance, and is capped for blending non-compliant fruit to dilute it. Spanish (primary) and English.

How a session runs
- The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
- Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results.
- The simulation can be run in English, Español.
- The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.
