About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional), module 0458 Sistemas de seguridad y confortabilidad of the Tecnico en Electromecanica de Vehiculos Automoviles (Real Decreto 453/2010). The learner is Ainhoa Beorlegui, a newly qualified technician for safety and comfort systems at a fictional independent electromechanics workshop, Talleres Garinoain in Montesalce.

Four situations set the workshop's course in 2027: a seat-belt pretensioner fired in a low-speed collision with the airbag lamp lit, and how the restraint work is prepared (disconnection and the manufacturer's waiting time) and the system diagnosed (control unit, crash record, replacement list); a used car with a deployed passenger airbag, and how the pyrotechnic parts are handled and stored and the new parts connected, coded and handed over; a delivery van whose air conditioning blows warm air, and how it is diagnosed (high and low pressures, outlet temperature, leak search) and the refrigerant recovered, weighed and recharged by certified staff (Real Decreto 115/2017; Regulation (EU) 2024/573); and the annual review of how the workshop works and closes each job (Real Decreto 1457/1986: written estimate, replaced parts, invoice, guarantee).

On pyrotechnic systems the procedure is never shortened.

Scored on the jobs resolved right first time, the cost of diagnosis, parts and refrigerant, the days a vehicle waits and the vehicles back with the same fault; training-level decision practice that complements the module's supervised practical work, the refrigerant certificate and each manufacturer's procedures, with no waiting time, refrigerant charge or pressure given.

Two critical safety errors cap the round at 40: a resistor fitted in place of a fired pretensioner (Real Decreto 989/2015 art. 4.5), and refrigerant vented to the atmosphere. Spanish primary, English parity.

Who it is for

An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: jueves 18 de febrero, 8:30: el pretensor disparado y el testigo del airbag.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Cómo se prepara el trabajo en el sistema de retención
  • Cómo se diagnostica el sistema de retención
  • Cómo se manipulan y guardan las piezas pirotécnicas
  • Cómo se conectan las piezas nuevas y se entrega el coche
  • Cómo se diagnostica el aire acondicionado
  • Cómo se trata el refrigerante
  • Cómo trabaja el taller
  • Cómo se cierra cada trabajo
