Sobre la simulación

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation on the first quarter of a permit technician at a city's development-services counter: telling residents and contractors which permits a project needs and why, taking in applications against the published submittal checklist without asking for requirements the code does not authorize (A.R.S. §9-834), working the review queue against the time frames the city must post (A.R.S. §9-835), disclosing a brother's interest and stepping aside from his file (A.R.S. §38-503), refusing a contractor's gift card (A.R.S. §38-505 and §38-504), giving every applicant the same rules and the help to reach them, escalating late files with specific notices and turning the common questions into a plain-language handout, for high-school Career and Technical Education in government and public administration and adult learners preparing the ICC Permit Technician certification.

Yesenia Arreguín, 19, a fictional permit technician at the Development Services counter of the fictional City of Arroyo Vista, Arizona, works with supervisor Grant Pelletier and plan reviewer Dana Kitchell from July to September 2027.

Round by round you decide how to scope permits and take in applications, how to work the review queue and what to do with your brother's pool permit, what to do with a contractor's gift card and an older resident who cannot use the portal, and how to handle thirty files near their time frame and the counter next quarter; at each decision point the whole quarter is projected again with the decisions taken so far.

Each round is scored on applications decided right first time, days past target, the rework rate, the applicant service score and public trust, with open violations shown alongside; handling a relative's file or keeping an applicant's gift caps the score. English with Spanish.

  3. La simulación se puede jugar en: English, Español.
  4. El docente sigue el progreso y los resultados de cada participante desde el panel, y usa los resultados de la clase para el debriefing.
