A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional), grado superior, module 1506 Supervision de la intervencion en incendios forestales y quemas prescritas of the Tecnico Superior en Coordinacion de Emergencias y Proteccion Civil (Real Decreto 906/2013).
The learner is Ainhoa Etxaleku, a newly qualified technician of the prescribed-burn programme of a fictional comarca, the Sierra de Almendrera, above a housing estate on the wildland-urban edge.
Four situations set the programme's way of working in the 2027-28 season: the season's programme, and how the prescription window is set (a burn plan with ranges of humidity, wind, temperature, fine fuel moisture and stability, and a go/no-go on the day) and how the means and the contingency are sized; the first burn of the winter, and how a burn is started (a test fire against the prescription, suspended if the weather leaves the window) and notified (the emergency centre, the forest agent, the council and the residents); a burn that escapes towards the estate, and how the population is protected (early evacuation by the safe exit, confinement where leaving is riskier) and how the means are called (the escape declared at the trigger and handed over, aerial means on the head); and the mop-up, the review and the close of the season (the perimeter cold, the watch, the georeferenced register, the report with the escape and its causes).
The weather window is half the safety of a burn. Scored on the hectares treated within prescription, the cost of the means per hectare, the hectares escaped and the safety incidents; training-level decision practice on the CLIF technical recommendations for prescribed burns (2021) and the Directriz basica for forest fires (Real Decreto 893/2013), complementing the module's supervised practical work.
Four critical errors cap the round at 40: lighting outside the prescription, notifying nobody, not declaring the escape, and recording the escape as an enlarged perimeter. Spanish primary, English parity.
Qué aprenden los participantes
Al terminar la sesión, los participantes serán capaces de:
- Diseñar la ventana de prescripción de una quema: los rangos de humedad, viento, temperatura, humedad del combustible muerto fino y estabilidad en los que cumple su objetivo y sigue controlable, con una decisión de ir o no ir
- Dimensionar las cuadrillas, el agua y el perímetro de contingencia con sus disparadores antes de la primera cerilla, comprobar la ventana con un fuego de prueba y suspender la quema cuando el tiempo salga de ella
- Notificar cada quema al centro de emergencias, al agente forestal, al ayuntamiento y a los vecinos antes de encenderla
- Decidir declarar un escape en su disparador como el incendio forestal que es, transferirlo con medios aéreos en la cabeza y cuadrillas en el flanco, y elegir evacuación o confinamiento para los vecinos
- Evaluar la temporada con honestidad: liquidar el perímetro en frío, mantener la vigilancia y el registro georreferenciado, comparar el comportamiento con la prescripción e informar del escape con sus causas

Una simulación introductoria que no requiere conocimientos previos de la materia, pensada para asignaturas de grado. También funciona en formación profesional, bachillerato y sesiones de onboarding.
Cómo funciona una sesión
- El docente crea una sesión desde el panel de Eureka e invita a los participantes.
- Los participantes juegan 4 rondas. En cada una envían sus decisiones y la simulación calcula los resultados. La primera ronda arranca con: martes 5 de octubre, 9:00: el programa de la temporada.
- La simulación se puede jugar en: English, Español.
- El docente sigue el progreso y los resultados de cada participante desde el panel, y usa los resultados de la clase para el debriefing.
