The new technical director of the home insurance line of a regional Spanish insurer in Zaragoza, with 300,000 policies and about 80 million euros of premium, must remediate a line whose combined ratio is heading to 110% as repair costs rise, under a board mandate of 97% in 2028 without the book falling below 85% of its premium.

Over four decisions between January 2027 and January 2028 the participant chooses how to diagnose the loss, how to handle water claims and what to do with the comparator channel; the renewal price, changes of terms and non-renewals under the notice and written-acceptance rules of Spanish insurance contract law; retention of customers who want to leave, agents commissions and loss prevention in old buildings; and finally the 2028 rates, growth and monitoring of the line.

The model is deterministic: policies renew through the year so every change earns slowly, price rises drive out the claim-free customers of the agency segments first, water claims respond to repair networks, excesses, prevention and exclusions, and the line result is premium less claims, commissions, expenses and complaint handling.

The score combines the quality of each decision with the technical result of each period, and is capped when limitations of cover are applied without the policyholder written acceptance or when the 2028 book falls below the board floor. Spanish (primary, peninsular) and English.
