Sobre la simulación

Five grant years (2026-2030) of a fictional family foundation in the Corredor del Henares, Spain: the learner is its first professional director, a third-generation family member, who turns 61 trustee-picked donations and an annual gala into a focused, governed grant programme at four December board meetings.

Block 1 (purpose and governance, from 2027): the focus (keep giving to what the trustees propose, two focus areas with a written theory of change - young people into skilled work through dual vocational training and older people living alone who stay safely at home - or a large annual prize under the family name), who governs (the four family trustees, the company corporate-responsibility budget, or two independent trustees with a conflicts-of-interest policy), and the 61 current donations (keep them all, stop them on 1 January, or phase them out over twelve months with notice and a bridge grant).

Block 2 (how the money is given, from 2028): the form of the grant (one-year restricted project grants, three-year general operating support, or matching grants), how grantees are chosen (trustee proposals, an open call with a 40-page form, or published criteria with a short proposal and a visit), and a trustee offering his own building as headquarters above market rent (stay in a free room at the company, approve the lease at the board where he votes, or conflict procedure with market quotes and the prior authorisation of the Protectorate that Spain Foundations Act art.

28 requires).

Block 3 (measure and report, from 2029): what is measured (euros and press coverage, three agreed outcome indicators paid with 5% of each grant, or an external evaluation of every grant at 15%), what the foundation publishes (the annual gala, nothing, or a public report with results, costs and failures), and the founder asking for a 1.5 million euro auditorium with his name (build it, turn it down at the board, or talk to him alone and propose scholarships in his name that the school needs).

Block 4 (the next generation, 2030): the seven fourth-generation cousins (left out, a committee that decides 100,000 euros a year within the focus areas with a mentor, or 15,000 euros each to give as they like), a 2030 dividend cut of 330,000 euros (cut every grant in proportion, sell the foundation 8% company stake to the family holding at book value below the appraisal, or honour the commitments from reserves and pause new grants), and board renewal (trustees for life, four-year terms with a next-generation seat, or the company chief executive as chair).

The model is deterministic: each euro reaches a programme or stays in overhead, and each programme euro produces verified outcomes at a rate set by the focus, the grant form, the selection, the measurement and the board.

The score combines the quality of each choice with verified outcomes, cost per outcome, grantee health, family cohesion and governance, and is capped when a trustee does business with the foundation or foundation assets pass to the family without the Protectorate authorisation. Spanish (primary, Spain) and English.

Para quién es

Una simulación de nivel intermedio para participantes que ya conocen los conceptos básicos de la materia, pensada para programas de máster y MBA.

Cómo funciona una sesión
