About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation on preparing and delivering a demo-day pitch and surviving the questions, for pre-incubation, incubation and acceleration programmes, student start-up competitions, seed funds that select by pitch and technical, technological and undergraduate entrepreneurship and innovation courses.

Yokasta, a fictional founder in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, collects used cooking oil from frying stands, colmados and restaurants and sells it to a biodiesel plant; she is one of twelve finalists of a fictional pre-incubation programme whose demo day decides a seed grant of up to RD$ 750,000 and a first conversation with two angels.

Round by round you choose the story the five minutes tell and how the market is sized, the traction and the financial slide you show, how you rehearse and exactly what you ask for, and how you answer the jury and follow up in the six weeks after.

Each round is scored on the jury score, your credibility, the meetings requested, the money in play and the risk the jury sees; inflating the traction or inventing a number before the jury caps the score. Spanish with English.

Who it is for

An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Lunes 5 de abril de 2027: la historia y el mercado.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • La historia que cuentan tus cinco minutos
  • La lámina de mercado
  • La tracción que muestras
  • La lámina financiera
  • Cómo ensayas
  • Lo que pides
  • Cómo respondes al jurado
  • Las seis semanas siguientes
