About this simulation

Iratxe Somavilla, 24, a prevention technician of the fictional Valdeorna Municipal Fire Service, inspects the fictional Sala Albariza, a concert hall licensed for 1,150 people, on the afternoon and night of a sold-out concert, then writes the inspection report.

Four rounds, each an action and an occupancy, prioritisation, lighting or follow-up choice: where the inspection starts and how occupancy is checked; a padlocked emergency exit fifty minutes before opening and the order of the deficiencies; the hall above its occupancy limit and two emergency lights that fail the test; the report and its follow-up.

Scored on a safety margin for the audience, minutes lost to false positives and repeat checks, avoidable costs after what a good choice avoids, and an inspection-reliability index. Three hard-fails cap the round at 40: letting the hall open with an emergency exit locked, letting the audience keep coming in above the occupancy limit, and signing a report without the deficiencies that were seen.

The lesson: a blocked exit weighs more than ten expired extinguishers. Training level only; stylised values, no real occupancy densities, exit widths, maintenance intervals or legal procedures; decision practice that complements supervised practical training. Spanish player-facing strings with English parity.

What participants learn

After the session, participants will be able to:

  • Start an inspection where the risk to people is: walk every escape route to the street, open every exit and check the licensed occupancy against the exits and the door count, not the sign
  • Decide proportionately on a serious deficiency before the public comes in, clearing and testing a blocked exit on the spot while still recording it as serious, and rank deficiencies by risk to evacuation
  • Protect the people already inside by stopping entry and counting when the hall goes over its limit, and test emergency lighting and signage route by route instead of trusting indicator lights
  • Write an inspection report that stands up, giving each deficiency its evidence, seriousness, rule of reference and deadline, and recording what was corrected afterwards as corrected afterwards
  • Argue with figures from the play why the most decisive-looking and most convenient options are rarely the best, and follow up with a dated visit and a notice to licensing if something is not corrected

Prerequisites

  • Knows extinguishers, emergency lighting and exit signs, as covered in module 1528

Who it is for

An intermediate simulation for participants who already know the core concepts of the subject, designed for master's and MBA programmes.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Viernes 15 de octubre, 18:30: el recorrido y el aforo.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Por dónde empiezas la inspección
  • Cómo compruebas el aforo
  • Qué haces con la salida 3
  • En qué orden pones las deficiencias
  • Qué haces con el aforo
  • Cómo compruebas el alumbrado y la señalización
  • Cómo redactas el acta
  • Qué seguimiento le das
