About this simulation

A 90-minute, 4-round basic Express simulation for Spanish vocational training (Formacion Profesional, grado superior), module 1136 Valoracion de la condicion fisica e intervencion en accidentes of the Tecnico Superior en Acondicionamiento Fisico (Real Decreto 651/2017) and the Tecnico Superior en Ensenanza y Animacion Sociodeportiva (Real Decreto 653/2017).

The learner is Lucia Barandiaran, a newly qualified trainer who runs the intake and the emergency protocol of a fictional municipal gym in 2027: 1,200 new members. Four situations set the centre's protocol: pre-exercise screening (PAR-Q+) and the fitness tests, a faint in a cycling class and the return to exercise, a cardiac arrest in the free-weights room and the AED, the emergency plan and the review of the year.

Screening first prevents the emergency you would otherwise have to handle. Scored on cases handled correctly, time to act, unsafe-effort exposures and new members lost; training-level decision practice that complements practical life-support training on a manikin; no drugs, doses or diagnosis.

Two hard-fails cap the round at 40: a maximal exercise test for every new member whatever the screening (module 1136, learning outcome 4) and the recovery position for someone who does not respond and is gasping (learning outcome 8; ERC Guidelines 2025: gasping is not normal breathing, start CPR and use the AED). Spanish primary, English parity.

Who it is for

An introductory simulation that assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, designed for undergraduate courses. It also works in vocational and high-school programmes and in onboarding sessions.

How a session runs

  1. The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
  2. Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: lunes 11 de enero, 9:00: el cribado y las pruebas de valoración.
  3. The simulation can be run in English, Español.
  4. The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.

Decisions participants make

The decisions participants make during the simulation:

  • Cómo cribas a los socios nuevos
  • Cómo haces las pruebas de valoración
  • Qué se hace en los primeros minutos
  • Cuándo y cómo vuelve Virginia
  • Qué haces por Anselmo
  • Cómo se usa el DEA
  • Qué plan de emergencias tiene el centro
  • Cómo revisas el año
