Tallgrass Controls (a fictional building-controls manufacturer in Omaha, Nebraska, with 240 million dollars of revenue and a bank loan that requires audited statements within 120 days): as a first-year staff accountant you take the company through its 2027 close and audit.
You recognize a bundled contract and distributor rebates and returns under ASC 606, recognize and classify a headquarters lease and a lease hidden in a logistics contract under ASC 842, set the materiality and the pre-audit test that anticipate the auditor, and decide which proposed adjustments to book, how to answer a control deficiency and what to sign in the representation letter.
Scored on the misstatement left uncorrected, the audit findings, the days to issue against the bank deadline and the cost over budget.
Who it is for
An intermediate simulation for participants who already know the core concepts of the subject, designed for master's and MBA programmes.
How a session runs
- The instructor creates a session from the Eureka dashboard and invites the participants.
- Participants play 4 rounds. In each one they submit their decisions and the simulation calculates the results. The first round opens with: Monday 3 January 2028: the revenue book.
- The simulation can be run in English, Español.
- The instructor follows each participant's progress and results from the dashboard, and uses the class results for the debrief.
