From Excel to web simulation.
You have spent years refining your simulation in a spreadsheet. We turn it into a web experience with teams, live rounds and instant results, and keep the logic that makes it work exactly as you wrote it.
Your model, intact · weeks, not months · nothing to install · 16 languages
An Excel simulation works. Until you run it with thirty students.
None of this is your model’s fault. It is what happens when a spreadsheet has to act as a platform.
One file per team, by email
Every team sends you its sheet. One renames it, one sends it twice, and one edits the tab it should never have touched.
Consolidating at midnight
You copy each team’s decisions into the master sheet, recalculate and send the results back. Nobody sees that part, and it is the part that takes the most time.
The model in plain sight
Any student can open the formulas, work out the demand curve and play against the spreadsheet instead of against the market.
One broken cell in round 3
Someone deletes a row and the numbers stop adding up halfway through the session, just when the class was most engaged.
Mac, Windows, phone
Macros won’t run, the Excel versions don’t match, and on a phone the file won’t even open.
It only works when you run it
The logic lives on your laptop and in your head. Handing it to a colleague or taking it to another section means explaining it from scratch.
Every tab in your workbook has a place
Nothing is thrown away. What your spreadsheet already does moves into a piece of the platform, and what you used to do by hand, the engine now does.
Everything you taught, minus the part that wasn’t teaching
Real competition between teams
The engine resolves every decision at once, so teams compete in one shared market: what one team decides changes everyone else’s result. In Excel, that meant consolidating by hand.
Your model, protected
Students see their decisions and their results, never the formulas. They play against the market, not against the spreadsheet.
Any device, nothing to install
It runs in the browser. Students join from a laptop, a tablet or a phone, with no macros, no Office licenses and no mismatched versions.
You set the pace
A dashboard shows who has submitted and who hasn’t, and you decide when to advance the round. Team play in class, or individual mode so each student plays at their own pace.
Data for the debrief
Every decision is logged round by round. You walk into the debrief with each team’s trajectory and export the results for grading.
Reusable, in 16 languages
A fresh session every term, with no sheets to clean and no files to resend. The interface runs in 16 languages, so your simulation can travel to another section, campus or program.
You bring the model. We do everything else.
Five steps, and none of them asks you to learn to code.
-
Send us your spreadsheet
YouThe file as it is, with macros, hidden tabs and notes in the margins. No need to tidy it up.
UsWe read all of it and send back every question we have in a single list.
-
One conversation
YouTell us how a session runs today: how many rounds and teams, what they decide and what they see afterwards.
UsWe listen for what already works in your class and what you would like to work better.
-
Specification
YouYou review a short document covering the decisions, formulas, rounds and screens, and sign it off.
UsWe translate your spreadsheet into that specification. Nothing gets coded until you approve it.
-
Build and verification
YouYou play the web version as if you were one more team, before your students do.
UsWe build it on the Eureka engine and run the same decisions through your spreadsheet and the web version until the numbers match.
-
First session
YouYou create the session, share access with your students and teach the class.
UsWe join your first session if you want us there, and adjust whatever needs adjusting afterwards.
You are not commissioning software. The platform already exists.
A bespoke web simulation is expensive when everything has to be built. Here almost everything is already built and in use at 20+ institutions; the only thing written is the part that is yours.
Already built
- Accounts, classes and student access
- Sessions, teams and rounds
- Individual and competition modes
- Live leaderboard for the projector
- Instructor dashboard
- Analytics and results export
- Interface in 16 languages
- EU hosting, under GDPR
What we write for you
- Your scenario
- The context, the company and the story your students read.
- Your model
- Your formulas, turned into the engine that calculates each round.
- Your debrief
- The questions and the data you close the session with.
Working from a professor’s own model is how many of our simulations began.
What we need, and what you get back
What you send
- Your Excel file, or files, exactly as they are.
- How a session runs today: rounds, teams and duration.
- What each team decides in each round, and what it sees afterwards.
- Which languages you teach in, and when you need it.
Is your model confidential? We sign a non-disclosure agreement before you send it.
What you get
- A proposal with timeline and budget, before you commit to anything.
- The specification of your simulation, to review and approve.
- A test version to play before your students do.
- Support in your first session, if you want it.
When you should keep it in Excel
Converting does not always pay off, and we would rather tell you now than at the third meeting.
- When building the model is the lesson. In a financial modeling class, seeing and writing the formulas is the whole point. The web version hides them on purpose, which helps a simulation and gets in the way of a modeling exercise.
- When you run it once, with one section. Conversion has a cost. It pays off when the simulation comes back every term, is played between teams, or is going to be handed to other faculty.
- We do not copy your sheet cell by cell. We redesign the experience for a browser: four hundred input cells become a handful of clear decision screens. Your formulas stay; your layout does not.
- Your macros do not run as they are. We rewrite their logic inside the engine. If a macro does something we cannot explain, we ask you rather than guess.
- We do not publish prices. Each conversion is quoted on how many decisions, rounds and roles your model has. We give you a figure once we have seen the spreadsheet, not before.
Frequently asked questions
Is the simulation still mine?
Yes. The model is yours and your name appears on the simulation. Before we start, we put in writing who may use it: only your sections, your whole institution or, if you wish, the Eureka catalog. That is how the simulations we co-developed with IESE faculty came about.
My spreadsheet is messy and only I understand it. Will it still work?
That is normal. Almost every workbook we receive has hidden tabs, inherited macros and notes in the margins. Understanding it with you is part of our job: anything unclear gets asked, not guessed.
How long does it take?
Weeks, not months. The platform, the dashboards, the analytics and the languages already exist, so only your part gets written: the scenario, the model and the debrief. The exact timeline depends on the complexity of the model, and we give it to you once we have seen the spreadsheet.
How do I know the web version calculates the same as my spreadsheet?
Because we check before you use it. We run the same decisions through your spreadsheet and through the web version, round by round, until the results match. If at some point we think something in your model should be corrected, we propose it and you decide.
Can I change the parameters myself?
Yes. We agree with you what you want to adjust between sections, such as starting demand, costs or the number of rounds, and those become session settings you change yourself. Deeper changes to the model are ours to make.
What do my students need?
A browser and the access you give them when you create the session. Nothing to install and no Excel licenses. It works in class, remotely and on a phone.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the model: how many decisions, rounds and roles it has, and how many languages you need it in. We do not publish a rate because no two spreadsheets are alike. Send us yours and we will reply with a proposal.
Your next session, with no attachments.
Send us your spreadsheet and we will tell you, with no commitment, what it would look like on the web and how long it would take.
Send my spreadsheetRather show it to us before sending it? We book 30 minutes and look at it together on screen.
